I decided to go to Koh Rong Sanloem. I was told that there is a boat at 6am…when I went to the pier, there was no one and no boat. Only an old man on a bench. Who, it turns out, is the guard of one of the beaches. He didn‘t really speak english but I think he understood that I want to go to the island and he said there is no boat. So I walked 40min with my heavy backpack along the beach and through a river to the next town and tried my luck there: and YES! Success. A 5$ Boat leaving at 7am. Perfect. And the sun is rising and brings in a orange light. There are maybe 4 people on the boat. Across me, a guy in a very outdoorsy outfit, not that it was over the top, it was quite modest, but you could see the quality of everything and I admired how slim and well packed his backpack was. And when he took out a bowl, some cereal, walnuts and a banana, I had to smile. I could have sworn he was german before, but then reading the german label on the walnut package was just the funniest thing. To be honest, I was a little jealous.

We arrived around 7:30 on the other island and after a little bit of a walk, I fell in love with my new hostel. It‘s on top of a cliff with stars down to the sea with a coral reef at the bottom. The terasse has many seats and pillows and an in incredible view. I sat down for a while, ate my 1$ dragonfruit and finished a painting. And then: I see a very familiar face. It‘s Daisy, a girl from the yoga retreat! We both cannot believe, it‘s such a nice coincidence. It‘s funny how yesterday in my heart I was like, something is pulling me to go tomorrow to that island. And maybe that was that? And she is leaving tomorrow to Koh Rong, so the timing couldn‘t have been better. And SHE said, that she was thinking, as she got up, she wants to find a girl to join her for snorkeling and then there I was and the second sentence I said was, that I want to go snorkling. I love these little moments.

We talked a lot, the snorkling was incredible, we went to the same café/restaurant for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Basically, tried their whole menu. And in the evening, we went for a snorkle in the dark WITH THE PLANKTON. I didn‘t expect it to be that great. But seeing the plankton underwater made it even better. In the beginning there were some people fishing not far from us. And they probably found it a little funny when we started to jump and run through the water laughing like little girls. It was a very pure, heartful joy. After they left, the beach was completely empty. The place felt magical. So quiet. And the beach was very long, and wide and just sand, very shallow entry. The water, as if it’s a lake. The light, just enough to see a little bit with bright stars above us. And the corners of the bay, covered in mist.
