Finally!!! I saw some glowing plankton!!!

It was incredible. I changed my location to stay at the beach to increase my chances for plankton and SUCCESS. After watching the sunset I waited until it got completely dark (and before the very bright & still looking like a full moon gets up). It could be darker, I saw some stars and boat lights far away, but it was dark enough thankfully. And the plankton doesn‘t just glow when looking at the sea, you have to move the water. I walked into the very shallow calm sea and moved my hands through the water. I checked the beach earlier, it‘s white sand in all directions, so I didn‘t have to be afraid that I hurt myself by accident on some rocks or so. I had a little bit of a swim, the water was still very warm. The glowing plankton felt to me a bit like glitter that lights up for a bit around you. It was very beautiful. And impossible to take a picture since they all ended up being pitch black.

In the morning I explored the island and spend a lot of time in the mangrove park that had many wooden bridges and paths. It was so beautiful, I am so grateful that I can be here.

I was thinking to extend my stay on the island even more, since all these beautiful places are only filled with a handful of people, barely any tourists, it’s insane. The local people are very friendly and I try to learn few words in Khmer. And it‘s so calm and peaceful here. But also: everything has to be payed in cash, including the hostels BUT there are no ATMs here or money exchange services. And with 100$ left, I don‘t want to risk it too much, so I‘ll be leaving on Tuesday.
