Karol and I got up early in the morning to see the old town of Hoi An by day light. We had like 30min before we had to be back at the hostel. Our plan was to go to Hue today. Maybe like 10min before bus departure, we got some baguettes to-go for breakfast and ran back. My other brother Konrad was already calling us and asking where we are.

The hostel owner pointed to a taxi and said bus, so we assumed, it would take us to the bus. It turned out, that was our „bus“ which took us to the train station in Da Nang. From there we got on a train and the views were really nice since it was going along the coast line. And probably would have been even nicer if we didn‘t fall asleep in between.

Stepping out of the train in Hue, we got talked at by a taxi driver who was trying to convince us that we should take a tour. We decided to go with it eventually, since the main temples are actually quite far apart. And we wanted to go to an abandoned water park as well which was 30min away.

We went to two big temples first. The latter was all dark grey and build in the 19th century and it‘s wild that people still lived there in the 20th century.

After the 2nd temple, the driver drove us up to a gate to the abandoned waterpark. Instantly 3 scooters picked us up and drove us 2 km to the main entrance. The waterpark was actually never really in use. It was opened and closed in 2004, miscalculations on the management‘s side. The park was really fun to explore, especially because the rainy weather gave it a misty atmosphere. The main entrance was a dome-like building with a massive dragon statue in the middle of a lake wich was connected with 3 long bridges.

When we returned to the taxi it started to get dark and the other temples we wanted to see were closed now. So the driver drove us to a small buddhist temple and then I asked him about a nice and cheap place to get food - which was really amazing. We wanted him to join us, but he refused.

And then it was already time to go on the night train - which was the most luxury train I have every seen with a ridiculously pretty room, nicer than some hotel rooms. There were two bunk beds in one cabin, an orchid flower on the table and a tapestry with flowers and birds painted on it. We watched some Youtube, ate some terrible crackers and went to sleep. And in Karol‘s words, it was the best sleep he had in Vietnam.
