At 2pm I decided that I wanted to see the Ayutthaya temples and was very lucky that I caught the bus 2min before departure because any later bus wouldn’t make sense since already that one would arrive there 1h before sunset.

Ayutthaya was beautiful and the sunlight just made this place look insane. It felt a little if I were teleported to a Zelda video game or some sort of Indiana Jones movie (I have not seen Indiana Jones but places like this is what I imagine Indiana Jones is), it felt surreal. And then to imagine, how it must have looked like or felt like once upon a time when it counted to the most developed cities in the world. When it was full of life. (The city is still alive, but the temples now are just ruins and it’s like a very large historical park to explore.)

My favorite place was the buddha head in the tree and it is a mystery how it ended up that way! One story says that there was a thief who wanted to steal it and left it next to a tree to pick it up later. BUT when he came back, the tree grew so much around it, he couldn‘t just take it.

Ayutthaya was the 2nd capital of Siam (former name for Thailand). It was founded in 1350 and destroyed by invaders in 1767.
